Velma C. Hibbs died, 11:30 AM, Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at her home. She was born, September 11, 1927, in Maben, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George and Lola Boyd Caldwell.

Velma had been employed over the years in various capacities including nurses' aide, hairdresser, waitress and most recently in the dietary department at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Warren where she sang in the choir, participated in the dramas presented by the church and assisted with the Junior Bible quiz teams. She enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, bingo, going to mountaineer park and playing cards with her friends. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Velma is survived by three sons: Dane C. (Vickie) Bryant of Fruitland Park, Florida, Kerry (Sharon) Eddy of Brave, Pennsylvania and Robert S. Eddy of Longview, Texas, two daughters; Penny (Vince) Stankiewiz of Bazetta, Sharon (Darrell) Freer of Champion, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Wiseman of Windsor, Virginia. Preceding her in death were, her parents, her first husband Thomas J. Eddy, her second husband, David Lee Hibbs whom she had been married to for almost 38 years, two sons: Thomas Ray Eddy and John Edward Hibbs along with four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carl W. Hall Funeral Home with services 7:00PM Friday, October 31, 2008. Friends may call from 5:00PM until service time. Burial will be in Arnettsville Cemetery, Arnettsville, West Virginia.
