A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, in Fuiten Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home for Retha E. Smith, who died May 28 at age 83.
Retha Rand was born Dec. 6, 1918, in Elizabeth, Ark. She moved to North Plains in 1954 and to Forest Grove in 1984. She was a homemaker and also a cannery worker at Birds Eye Cannery in Hillsboro.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen Ridgeway, Ellen Smith and Glenda Goddard; sisters, Beula Hester, Agnes Wilson, Josephine Watts, Lula Fry and Irene Friend; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her son Jerry died in 1996.
