Lois Beula Hester was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Elizabeth, Ark., to William and Audie Rand and passed away Aug. 29, 2014, in Keizer, with her family. Beula retired in Woodburn, where she faithfully attended Mid Valley Community Church. Her favorite pastime was working on her puzzle books and making baby quilts for any new grandchildren born, whatever the generation they were. Beula went to live in Texas with her daughter, Lawanda and husband, John Barr, in 2002. She was in Oregon doing what she loved the most: visiting with family. The oldest of 11 siblings, she had seven children, 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great- grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Bertie Davidson of Phoenix, Lawanda Barr of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Norma Blair of Keizer; sons, Ray Dodd of Keizer, Hulen Hester of Phoenix and John Hester of La Pine; and sisters, Agnes Wilson Josephine Watts of Hillsboro, Lula Fry of Lake City, Ark. and Irene Friend of Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Dodd in 1935; husband, Hugh Hester in 1970; one grandson; two granddaughters, one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-granddaughter. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Valley Memorial Park, 3809 S.E. Tualatin Valley Highway, Hillsboro. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at the same location. A reception will follow the funeral and graveside service at Club House, 1901 S.E. Minter Bridge Road, Hillsboro.
