Pearl was born on January 3rd, 1912 in Naomi, Kentucky, daughter of the late Elijah and Addie Ard Tarter. She was a homemaker, loved gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Nancy, Kentucky.
Pearl was survived by four sons, Robert (and Daisy) Halcomb, Wendell (and Nellie) Halcomb, Roy (and Lois) Halcomb' and Donald (and Connie) Halcomb; four daughters, Jewell Wilds, Lois (and James) Lloyd, Connie Gossett, and Alice (and Wesley) Bales; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah Tarter and Addie Tarter; her husband, Sherman Halcomb, whom she married in 1933 in Somerset, Kentucky; nine brothers, Oral Tarter, Hurstel Tarter, Huston Tarter, Arthur Tarter, Dave Tarter, Herbert Tarter, Hobert Tarter, Luther Tarter, and Lennie Tarter; five sisters, Bessie Henderson, Oma Daulton, Sarah Daws, Callie Reed, and Nellie Tarter; and one son-in-law, Glen Gossett.
Visitations were held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 after 5:00 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 3rd, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating.
Burial followed in the Tarter Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
