Old resident of Macon County called away at the age of 75 yrs.
Daniel Good died at his home near Oreana, Oct 25, 1896, of diabetes, after an illness of eight months, aged 75 years, 9 months and 24 days. He came to Illinois from York County, PA in 1847, being one of the early settlers of Macon County. He was married to Elizabeth Barnett, Jan 29, 1959, and to them eight children were born, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. S. C. McConnell(Elizabeth Jane), Oreana, IL., Mrs. D. J. McAllister (Barbara Ann), Dalton City, IL., Mrs. W. R. Adams(Emma Mae), of Oreana, IL, and Mrs. Theo. Coleman(Melinda Catherine) and Mrs. F. A. Funk(Mary Alice), of Decatur. His wife died August 7, 1888. Two brothers are living, John Good of Bearsdale, and Rudolph Good of Indiana. About thirty years ago he united with the United Brethren Church of which he was a faithful member until death, acting for years as a class leader and trustee of the Brick Church, six miles northwest of Decatur. He was of positive nature and had strong convictions of duty which led him to work earnestly for the good of his friends and neighbors to influence them to see the right way.
The funeral of Daniel Good was held at 11 o'clock Tuesday forenoon from Union Church and was one of the most largely attended funerals held in the neighborhood for a long time. The floral offerings were very beautiful. The services were conducted by Rev. J. A. King, assisted by Rev. Mr. Huston. The Pall Bearers were Nelson McKinley, J. S. Trumbell, B. Kirby, D. W. Garver, Abraham Kuntz, and George Morrison. The interment was at Union Cemetery.

Daughter - Barbara Ann Good McAllester (McAllister) was B: 27, Feb 1856 in Macon Co., IL. Died: 29, July 1928 in Jennings, LA. Buried: LA.
