A U.S. Navy, WW II veteran, he was one of the Higgins boat drivers who took the soldiers to the beach at Normandy for the D-Day Invasion on June 6, 1944.
He is survived by sons, John Edward Murrah, Jr. and Robert Belvin Murrah; also survived by Evelyn (Myrt) Murrah; children, Jo Anne Missal, James Larry Murrah, Linda Murrah, Sharon Alsop, & Darlene Rainey; sisters, Thelma Thomas and Evelyn Norfolk; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Barry Murrah.
Graveside services conducted with full military honors on Friday, September 28, 2007.
