McKINNEY - Services for W.E. "Cotton" Evans, 85, of McKinney were held Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Mr. Evans died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 in Kaufman.

Dr. James W. "Bob" Evans and Dr. Bruce Austin officiated with burial at Pecan Grove Cemetery.

Surviving are his sons, David Ray Akins of Honey Grove and Tommy Q. Akins of Scurry; brothers, Troy Evans of Fort Worth, James "Bob" Evans of Allen, Billy Evans of Van Alstyne and Gene Evans of Allen; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

W. E. "Cotton" Evans married Davalynn Fisher Akins after was divorced from Burl Barkley Akins. Davalynn and Burt had two sons together, David Ray and Tommy Quinn Akins. David and Tommy were very young when W.E. married Davalynn. W. E. raised them as his own. They considered him as their Dad. W. E. and Devalynn Evans had one son together, Stephen Creg Evans.
