Jack Evans, 80, of Greenville died April 21, 2007, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Johnny Hailes officiating. Burial will follow at Hall Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 o'clock at the funeral home.

Jack was born July 5, 1926, in Melissa, son of William and Edna Vermillion Evans. He owned and operated Jack and Betty Evans Country Store and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Jack's most enjoyable time was spent fishing with his family, hunting with his brothers, joking with his customers, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jackie and Bob Hill of Rockwall and Janice and Jack Cowley of Greenville; a son, Jerry and Julie Evans of Greenville; his former wife, Betty Evans of Greenville; brothers Troy Evans of Keller, Cotton Evans of McKinney, Bob Evans of Allen, Gene Evans of Allen, Billy Evans of Anna and Leroy Hathcock of McKinney; grandchildren, L. Mathew Prince, Candice Jimenez, Renee France, Justin McCord, Clint and Cricket Cowley and Joshua and Jessica Evans; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jody McCord; five brothers and two sisters.

Joshua Evans, Mathew Prince, Justin McCord, Clint Cowley, Cody France, and Martin Jimenez will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital-MDA.
