Christina Van Meter was born in Pendleton county, Ohio, April 25, 1824 and died in Columbia City March 22, 1910, aged 85 years, 10 months and 27 days. She came to this county with her parents, William and Mary Van Meter, in 1845 and settled in Smith township. On June 22, 1848 she was married to Levi Myers, a prominent farmer of Columbia township, who later retired and moved to this city to live.
To this union there were born several children, three of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Mary Weber of this city; Mrs. John Boggs, Warsaw, and Charles Edward Myers, Denver, Colo. A step-son, Reuben Myers, of Des Moines, Ia., also survives. Mr. Myers died in 1882.
