"Fred Cook, 93, of Newton, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.

Born November 27, 1919 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Marshall Marion Cook and Minnie Mae Tallent Cook. He was retired from Century Furniture as a machine operator and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Melmer Hoyle Cook; two brothers, Ed and Reid Cook and two sisters, Annie Lail and Lela Houser.

Survivors include a son, Everette "Sonny" Cook and wife, Sandy of Newton; two daughters, Millie Drum of Longview and Hazel Bean of Mountain View; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jessie Cook of Hickory and Joe Cullen Cook of Lawndale and four sisters, Dorothy Cook of Shelby, Evelyn Townsend of Vale, Junie Rhoney of Vale and Bessie Bumgardner of Lenoir.

Visitation: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.

Officiating: Rev. R.A. Brackett and Rev. Lawrence Jones

Burial: St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar."
