DOYLE OMEGA WARD
1935-2008

Doyle Omega Ward, 73, of Pace, FL went home, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 27, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his earthly home after a two month battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his family and close friends.
Doyle was a hard-working, simple Christian man and a role model to everyone he met. He was a member of Floridatown Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he served as Treasurer, Sunday School Director, Discipleship Training Teacher, Santa Rosa Baptist Association Executive Board member, Deacon, building and grounds maintenance, pastor search committee, choir, and children's ministry bus driver. He was in the US Army for a three year term as a medic and driver. Later, he worked as a truck driver and delivery man for Lance crackers and Barber's milk company. He retired from R.H. Bouligny Electrical Contractors in 1994, where he was shop foreman supervisor. Doyle's passion in life was to help others, fish when he could and watch NASCAR racing after church on Sundays. He lived the Christ-like Life by praying daily, reading his bible, calling people on his cell phone (he loved the direct connect) and visiting the elderly, sick and homebound. He was at the church if the doors were open and sometimes on the grounds mowing the grass when the doors were closed. He insisted on attending Sunday service every week and made his last visit Sunday, October 26, 2008 for worship service. Doyle provided for his family, friends and strangers at a moments notice. He enjoyed listening to Christian blue grass gospel music, gardening, picking vegetables, frying catfish from the Alabama River and cooking them up to share. Doyle loved his simple life and his family. He showed them his love through actions, not words. His compassion for people permeated through his laughter, hugs and stories. Doyle spent his retired years at birthday parties, ball games and taxi-ing family members to places they needed to be. His old homestead in Covington County Alabama held a special place in his heart. He loved fixing it up with his brothers and kin folks. He especially loved working and staying busy until his final days. He was preceded in death by his parents William E. and Hattie Mae Knowles Ward, his son, Phillip Doyle Ward and grandson, Coty Lee Ward. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Sanders Ward, four daughters and son-in-laws Denise and Jeff LaMonte, Deneen and Robbie Goforth, Milette and Rene West and Deanna and Roger Dunlap; two brothers, Richard(Mavis)Ward, Wyley "Donald"(Elaine) Ward; and two sisters, Bessie Hare (Pete) Riley and Lucy Ward Bodie Copeland.
