She had been ill for the past nine weeks and hospitalized 2 V2 weeks. Mrs. Altepeter, a teller at the Kentland Bank for 17 years, retired in 1979.
Born in Benton County, south of Oxford, on Oct. 24, 1923, she lived in Kentland for 31 years before moving to Lafayette two years ago. She attended Boswell schools, graduating from Boswell High School in 1941. She married C. Goar "CG" Altepeter in Oxford on Jan. 31, 1947. He formerly worked at the Benton County Stone Co. and farmed.
Mrs. Altepeter was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Mary Susan) Jasheway of Lafayette and Mrs. Larry (Jane Ellen) Byers of San Diego; a sister, Mary Helen Turman of Goodland and a brother, John W. Hamelman of Mulberry.
