His wife, a teacher in her earlier years in AR, was the first teacher at the Johnson School, northwest of Purcell, in 1907, the year of Oklahoma's Statehood. She was selected Pioneer Woman of Oklahoma in 1957.
At the time of Mrs.Taylor's passing, in 1967, their living children were: daughters, Mrs. Ray Jones, Purcell; Mrs. Clay Dockery, Pauls Valley; Mrs. James Sorrels, OKC; sons, M.G., Jr. and Jack Blackwell, Purcell; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
