Meinhardt William Block was born in Crawford County, Ia. on May 17, 1919. He was the son of Fritz and Emma Loewe Block of Buck Grove, Ia. He was received into the Kingdom of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in infancy. In 1933 he was Confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Buck Grove. He attended Zion Lutheran School in Denison, Ia.

He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army from Jan. 4, 1942 until Nov. 18, 1943. He served overseas. Upon returning home, he was engaged in farming with his father and brother.

On Feb. 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marion Deiber. Meinhardt and Marion Block farmed on the family farm until his health failed him on April 10, 1971. They moved to Denison, Ia. In April, 1972 where he resided until his death.

On Sunday March 8, 1987, the Lord, in his infinite love and wisdom, called him to his eternal rest. He was in the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb. at the time of his death. He attained the age of 67 years, 9 months and 21 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents: twin brother, Henry Block at the age of one year; one brother, Paul Block, of Buck Grove: and his father in law, Walter Deiber.

Those who survive him are his wife, Mrs. Marion Block of Denison; one sister in law, Mrs. Arlene Block; his mother in law, Mrs. Leona Deiber; nieces, nephews, the members of St. John's Lutheran Church of Buck Grove, and many other relatives and friends.
