Mary Alverda deLange Carson of Orem, died on Monday, January 1, 1990 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.


She was born April 1, 1905 in Koosharem, Utah, a daughter of John Waldemar and Cynthia Alma Bagley deLange. She married Russel Joseph Carson on July 8, 1937 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1987. He died on June 25, 1988. She spent her early years in Koosharem and Sunnyside where she attended school. She moved to Orem in 1921 and finished the 8th grade at Spencer and went to Lincoln High School. She attended BYU where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in San Juan County, Piute County and finally in Farfield where she met her husband, Russel J. Carson. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Group. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in a great number of positions. The latest being a temple worker and genealogist.


She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Russell deLange Carson of Sumter, South Carolina; Melvin Jay Carson of Riviera, Arizona; Gerald LeRoy Carson of Charles City, Iowa; Mrs. Ronald (Lula Dawn) Webb of Springville; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson; one brother, Edward Owen deLange of Rumson, New Jersey. A daughter, Mary Jean preceded her in death.


Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 1990 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeridge 2nd Ward Chapel, 80 West 900 South in Orem. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.M. at the Sundburg Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and also one hour prior to the services at the Ward Chapel.
Burial will be held in the Provo City Cemetery.
