Mr. James "Buddy" Fifer was born the son of the late Kale and Clara Mullen Fifer. James was the eldest of four siblings. James joined the United States Army in 1944 where he served in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1948. During this time James fell in love and wed Barbara Malone; to this union seven children where born. Clair, James and John whom are all deceased; Nancy of Kankakee, William of Crawford, MS, Barbara of Philadelphia, PA and Robert (Michelle) of Plainfield.
James lived a fulfilling life and had many accomplishments; he was a retired trackman for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a funny and well loved person. He was known to make others laugh and smile. Even in his later years, James still enjoyed fishing, bingo and riding the River Valley Metro bus. He leaves to cherish his memories; two aunts, Narciss (104 years old) and Lucille; four children; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
