Elbert Carroll Woolley came to Texas in 1870. Lived in Bell Co. until he came to Concho Co. in the 1900. Was a "cow-man" until 1900 when he began farming and later was mail carrier from Paint Rock to Ballinger, then from Paint Rock to Concho. In Bell County he went to school with ex Gov. Jim Ferguson and Sam Sparks. Leaves wife and 9 children.
In an interview on September 10, 2002, with Mr. Don Bishop, step-grandson of Miles Wood, Mr. Bishop said that the Wood's lived on one side of the Methodist Church in Paint Rock and the Woolley's lived on the other.
