OBITUARIES

Dessa Lundeen

Mrs. Dessa Lundeen, 79, who had been an Orland resident for 62 years, died Friday evening in Glenn General Hospital. She was a native of Kansas, born June 30, 1892.
She and her husband, Henry Leonard Lundeen, came to Orland in the days when the Orland Project was just being opened up, in 1909, and bought and developed one of the first ranches under the new government irrigation. Orland had been their home ever since. After some years of ranching, they moved to town, making their home on East Shasta Street. Mrs. Lundeen was active in the Methodist Church and in the Federated Church which succeeded it. Other activities included the Grange, the Royal Neighbors and the WCTU.
Her survivors include her husband, Henry Leonard Lundeen, of Orland; two sons, Victor, of South Lake Tahoe, and Gardner, of Burlingame; a daughter, Marie Woodworth, of Paradise, a sister, Mrs. Lillian Viljoen, of Hawaii, and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Federated Church here, with Chaplain Arthur O. Hoppe the officiating clergyman. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. - Transcribed by E.
