Mary Anne Barker

Mary Anne Barker, 74, of the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 1992, at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg. She had been a patient of the medical center for two weeks. Before entering the medical center, she had been a patient in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home since December of 1991.

Mrs. Barker was born on April 6, 1917, in Cherokee, to Anton and Kati Yelnlker Rauniker. She was a registered nurse, employed as an RN in San Diego, Calif., from 1957 to 1966. From 1966 to 1976, she was a nurse at Parsons State Hospital, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the AARP, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Parsons.

Survivors include two sons, Robert P. Grant of Cherokee and William R. Barker of Lawrence; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Tony, and Charles Rauniker; and two sisters, Ann Lomshek and Katie Smith.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, with the Father Joseph Abraham officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today.
