Maj. Robert D. Lindenau, was 39, of Camano Island, Wash.; assigned to the 91st Civil Affairs Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.; He died Oct. 20 in Charbagh, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle. His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, NATO Medal, seven Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, the Combat Action Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge. Bob is survived by his wife, Tonya, and their four children. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lindenau; and mother, Ruby Lindenau.
