He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plant City. He was a carpenter by trade, and built homes all over Florida and Georgia. Even after he retired he still did finish carpenter work.
He was preceded in death by second wife, Lettie I.(Miley) Elston, and divorced from first wife Mary Pearl Shafer, and third wife, Gloria-Rosita (Bryant) Elston. He is survived by his widow, Irene (Davis) Elston; a daughter, Gloria-Rosita Elstan, and three sons, John W. Elston and Edward F. Elstan, all from Florida; Kenneth Elstan Bott, of Ohio, three sisters, Mrs. Olive Schramm, Plant City, Mrs. Mary Blythe, Delphos, Ohio, and Mrs. Florence Ladd, Elida, Ohio.
