She married James Kenney in 1943. He died September 10, 1990.
For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Jim's Peeled Potatoes Co. in Unity, Jim's Drive In in Fairfield, and later built and operated the Trail's End Restaurant (now Homestead Rest.) in Unity.
Ruth and her husband were actively involved with others in organizing and operating the Unity Ambulance Corps. In its early years.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries and her Bible. Her retirement years were spent playing cards with family and friends and enjoying her grandchildren, who were of top importance with her.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Kenney of Unity, two sons, James Peter and wife Josephine of Windsor, Conn., and John and wife Nora of Bucksport; five grandchildren, Alan and wife Lori of Monmouth, Lance and wife Melanie of Unity, Benjamin of Windsor, Conn., Shannon and husband Matt Calderwood of Rockland, Jeff of the U.S. Navy in Rochester, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Russell of Shawmut; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special pet cat, Sam, who was very special to her.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Cleon and William Frost and Robert Edwards.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Unity. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the Pond Cemetery in Unity.
