Gerald Alvey Heaps passed quietly away on March 24, 2007. Gerald was born to Duane and Irene Heaps. He married Betty Braithwaite. He is a decorated veteran of the United States Army. As a young soldier in World War II he was part of the invasion force, which landed on Utah Beach in Normandy, France on D-Day. He was a professional truck driver, dispatcher and safety officer. Dad loved fishing albeit without much success, mom always could out fish him. He also enjoyed cheating at cards with his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Gardner, Van, Jim, Ray and Ken. Gerald is survived by hi loving wife and children, David Heaps (Margaret); Ed Heaps; Jeff Heaps (Kaye); Jeannie Dodge (Shane); Barbara Lea Walters (Mark) and Linda Porter (Niel), 31 grand children, 70 great grandchildren and still counting. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. There will also be a viewing on Thursday, March 29, 2007 from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 noon in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
