Horace Brown came to the Brownville, Maine area with his parents Simon and Betsey (Rollins)Brown probably between 1802 and 1810. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. He married Hannah Morrill, daughter of Peter Morrill and Mercy Hall. Hannah and Horace raised 9 children. The family lived in Brownville, Orneville, and Milo, Maine. According to census records, Horace was a farmer. All three of his sons served in the Civil War. He died at the home of his son, George W. Brown in Alton, Maine.
