John T. Beaver, January 1975, Kokomo, Indiana. John picked this suit out - he looked really great in it. I recall it cost $100 - a considerable sum in those days!

John's wife Margie designed his gravestone. The stonecutter sent her a note of thanks for letting him complete her design. The photos are ceramic and the stone was Pink Balfour Granite, to match his older sisters' gravestone. Margie's silhouette is reflected on the polished face; she took this photo the day she moved away from Indiana (May 1977).

John built this telescope from scratch. The 10" Newtonian reflecting telescope had a plexiglass tube and the base was made of plywood and metal. He belonged to the Kokomo Astronomy Club.

John Beaver, age 19. He attained the rank of Sgt (E-5). He repaired helicopter radios at the Marine Corps Helicopter Stations at El Toro and Santa Ana.

John playing with Kermit, 1972. Margie wanted a round bed and once we got it, discovered what a pain it is to have one. This quilt was made by Margie's Aunt JoAnne and grandma Effie Kinkade when she was in high school.

John - 1247 South Cooper St, Kokomo, Indiana, 1973. This rented cottage was our first home in Indiana. It felt like there was no insulation in the walls - our food would freeze in the cupboards!
