Martha Frances Elizabeth Long
was born Dec., 10, 1876 in
Greene County, Missouri. She was
the daughter of Rev. Robert Houston
Long and Lucinda 'Holt' Long.

During childhood she attended Oak
Grove school in Greene County, Missouri.
Martha was a member of the Baptist Church
and had served as superintendent
of Sunday school. Martha was one of 10
sibblings. Isaiah Henry Maples,(Rev.);
George Marion,Ivan, Cynthia May, Rhoda A.
Nancy,Robert Orlando, (died at the age of 2)
Mary Catherine, and Lucinda Jane.

Martha married George W. Bandy on
November 24, 1895.
The couple had 10 children:
Jasper Robert
Infant son, died in infancy;
George Houston
Melvin Grover
Mealie Roxie
Infant daughter, died in infancy
Lucinda Alice
Eartha Frances
Isaiah William
Martha W.

Martha and George lived in Afton,
Ottawa Co., Ok.
Martha was 1/16 Cherokee by Blood
and she signed the Final Dawes Rolls.
Her grandmother, Mahala 'Atchley'
Long was 1/4 Cherokee. Her father,
Rev. Robert H. Long also enrolled.

Martha was a caring daughter, sister, wife
mother and grandmother.
She was a lovely Christian woman who
was loved by her friends and family. I
have fond memories of her and George.

LONG-TIME RESIDENT
OF AFTON DIES
Mrs. Martha Frances Bandy, 78
year-old Aftonian, died at 5 p.m.
Thursday, March 3, in the Johnson
hospital here. Death was attributed
to a heart aliment.
Mrs. Bandy, born Dec. 10, 1876 in
Billings, Mo., came to this community
in 1895, when she and her husband,
the late George W. Bandy homesteaded
northeast of Fairland. She had resided
in and around Afton since that time.
She was a member of the First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Houston
Bandy of Tulsa, and Isaiah Bandy, of
California; tree daughters, Mrs.
Lucinda Fletcher, Afton, Mrs. Erthie
Myers, Fairland, and Mrs. Martha Walker,
Miami; one brother, Ivan Long, Afton;
and Mrs. Cynthia Maples, of Aurora, Mo.
Also, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday
in the First Baptist church. Rev. Max
Pendley afficiated, with Rev. Eugene
Thomas assisting. Burial was in the
Fairland cemetery under direction of
the Birks Funeral home.
Pallbearers were Ralph Boyd, Art Cox,
Jay Weston, Clifton Rider, Henry
DuBois and W. R. Lattimore.
