Son of David Skeels Jr. and Martha Greene whom are buried at Highgate Falls Cemetery. He was a farmer and blacksmith by trade and married Lois Haskins and then married Hannah Smith. He had no children. His sister was Maria Skeels (1804-93) who was married to Henry "Harry" Robinson (1796-1861) of Swanton then John Fish (1792-1876) of Sheldon.
