Clarence V. Keeney, 92 years of age, departed this life on October 17th, 2008.

Clarence was in Pulaski County, Kentucky on November 12th, 1915, son of the late Thomas Walter and Julia Ann Abbott Keeney. He worked at the Somerset City Hospital for thirteen years and then retired from the Lake Cumberland Medical Center after working there for eight years. He also served for four years in the United States Army, Company C/HQ, 121st Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, and the European Theater Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was also a lifetime member of the D.A.V.

Clarence was survived by two daughters, Doris (and Jerry) Sebert and Janice (and Finley) Johnson; one brother, John Keeney; one sister, Elizabeth Hall; five grandchildren, Jeannie (and Andrew) Miller, Donna (and Billy) Davis, John (and Ashlie) Sebert, Sarah (and Michael) Wallace, and Samuel (and Andrea) Johnson; four great grandchildren, Caleb Miller, Morgan Davis, Allie Davis, and Kolton Johnson; Dana Woodson, who was like a granddaughter; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Walter Keeney and Julia Ann Keeney; his loving wife, Rebecca Meece Keeney, whom he married on December 15th, 1941 and who departed this life on June 7th, 2006; four brothers, Ernest Keeney, Lloyd Keeney, Herbert Keeney, and Harold Keeney; one sister, Dorothy Sears; two half-brothers, Sam Keeney and Walter Keeney; and one half-sister, Mabel Abbott.

Visitations were held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th, 2008 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20th, 2008 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home.

Burial followed in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Military Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post # 38.
