He came to America in the ship "Lion" reaching Boston, Massachusetts on September 14, 1632. He remained in Boston and Roxbury for a few years. In the summer of 1657, he visited Western Connecticut, probably with a following Captain Underhill's Company in the Pequot War. He probably went as far west as Fairfield. He was a member of Church of England. He was one of eight persons rejected by the New Haven Company. All eight of these people were later accepted by the Milford Plantation and given rights of Free Planters.
