He loved life, this boy of mine,
With his mongrel dog, and rolled fish line
And going ‘round without his hat.
He got into mischief ten times a day; ‘twas only in fun, be used to say; He tried my patience, but now I know ‘Twas just for this that I loved him so!
And now he's in heaven, but he'll always be
The same dear boy through eternity. "Dear Father, keep him close to Thee And help me know he's still close to me".
