Minnie Bowman, daughter of John and Paulina Bowman, was born near Auburn, Illinois, May 9, 1875, and passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. May Wigelsworth in Atchison, Friday, September 27th, 1946 at the age of 71 years.

When a small child, she came with her parents to Kansas, where they settled on a farm near Easton, later moving to McLouth where they lived a number of years.

She was married in 1893 to James Cross. To this union were born eight children, all of whom survive. In the year 1906 they moved to Leavenworth, where they have since that time made their home.

Mrs. Cross was a devoted wife and mother, her home and children being her chief interests. She united with the McLouth Brethren church when young, and has always been faithful to its teachings.

Preceding her in death were her father, John H. Bowman, two brothers, Will and Roy, and one sister, May, who died in infancy.

She is survived by her husband James Cross, seven daughters, Mrs. May Wigelsworth, Atchison, Mrs. Alpha Vanek, Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Pauline Wilson, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Eva Chain, Blackwater, Mo., Mrs. Ida Ringle, Mrs. Anna Klep and Mrs. Mary Cross, all of Leavenworth, her mother, Mrs. J. H. Bowman, one sister, Mrs. Ida Kline, both of Leavenworth, and one brother, Harry Bowman of Marchfield, Mo., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
