Rosa Napjus, was born 23 Sep 1848, in Friesland, The Netherlands, and she was eight years of age when she emigrated with her parents to the America in 1857, settling near Red Rock in Marion Co. Iowa. Rosa's Dutch name was Romkje, and she was their only child.(She had a sister who died on the trip to America. After one year the family moved into the town of Pella where her parents, Jan (aka John) A. and Rosa (Plantenga) Napjus, ran a general store.

Mrs. Rosie Terpstra--Mrs. Rosie Terpstra, 81, died here at 12:45 Thursday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.B. Dick. She had been an invalid for some time and had been bed-fast for the past five weeks. Short funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 at the Dick home in Killduff. From their the body will be taken to Galesburg where finial services will be held in the Methodist Episcopal Church at 1:30. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery. Mrs. Terpstra as born in Friesland, Holland, o Sept. 23, 1848, the only child of John and Rosa Napkun. When she was 8 years old, in the company of her parents, she came to the United States, receiving her education in this country. The family settled near Red Rock in Marion County where they lived for a year then moved to Pella. She was married on Feb. 14, 1867 to Dow W. Terpstra. Mr. and Mrs. Terpstra moved to Jasper County in 1869, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Her husband died of July 11, 1905. Mrs. Terpstra is survived by four sons, Watson D., H. Dd, Albert and Martin S., and two daughters, Mrs. C.B. Dick of Killduff and Mrs. B.A. Romans of Reasnor, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers for the funeral services, it was announced, will be Forrest, Harold, and Leslie Terpstra, Bud Breen, Jesse Butin and Harold Schnug.
