Frank Adams, 95, of rural North Henderson, IL, died 9:55 A.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg,
He was born August 1, 1913 in Aledo, Illinois the son of Tim and Blanche (Weeks) Adams. Frank graduated from Alexis High School in 1931. In 1930 Frank won the National Horse Judging Contest in Kansas City, Mo.
Frank married Jessie K. Leander in Burlington, IA on November 18, 1938 and she died May 12, 1998 after 59 years of marriage.
Frank and Jessie settled on a farm just north of North Henderson in 1938, where he farmed and remained until his death.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson since Dec. 14, 1952. He served on the Church Board and the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Board. He was a 50 year member of the Rio Masonic Lodge and was an Alexis FFA Advisor for several years.
Surviving is his 4 sons, Russell (Karen) Adams of North Henderson, Donald (Barbara) Adams of North Henderson, James (Joan) Adams of Hanford, Ca and Gerald (Susan) Adams of Viola, IL; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; one brother, John (Esther) Adams of Marble Falls, TX; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Katherine Perschnick
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis with Rev. Kurt Carlsen of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 17, 2008 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or Community Hospices of America.
