William was a son of Joseph Cooper & Lucy Taylor.

He was married 1st on 1 Jun 1834 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts by Rev. Mr. Malcolm, to Emeline De Pallies.

They had a son:
. William Brewster Cooper, Jr. (1835 - 1882)
+ sp: Jane Iddings
+ sp: Harriet E. Leith

He was married 2nd on 12 Sep 1837 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts to Ruth Flint Edwards.

They had 4 daughters:
. Emma Pallies Cooper (1838 - 1921)
. Mary Caroline Cooper (1840 - 1845)
. Lucy Edwards Cooper (1843 - 1898)
+ sp: George Lewis Epps
. Mary Caroline "Carrie" Cooper (1846 - 1926)
+ sp: Menzo W. VanValkenburg

According to the biography of his son, "for many generations the family were Whigs and Unitarians, and his father [William Brewster Cooper, Sr.] became an ardent Abolitionist, and a conductor on the 'Underground Railroad'."

William and his 2nd wife, Ruth, shared the same birthday... December 27th. His 1st wife Emeline was also born in December... haven't been able to find the exact date, perhaps the 27th as well ?!? Maybe he was into astrology?
