Bender, Gladwin
Went home to be with his Lord, peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his residence in New Hamburg. Gladwin was formerly of Kitchener. He was born 91 years ago in East Zorra Township and was the son of the late Solomon R. & Rachel (Iutzi) Bender.
Beloved husband of the former Elma (Good) Bender whom he married September 23, 1942. Loving father of Bertha & Ray Gingerich of Kingston, Arnie & Barbara Bender of Wellesley, Maynard & Lila Bender of Waterloo, Sharon Gingerich of Kitchener. Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by Jim Gingerich of Kitchener and brother Laverne & Ina Bender of Tavistock. Gladwin was predeceased by sister Elvera Bender brothers Clarence & Ida Bender, Lloyd & Leona Bender and Milfird & Edna Bender.
Gladwin was a member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church where he served as an elder and on church council. He enjoyed gardening, walking and nature.
Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg Tuesday (tonight) from 7-9 again Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. The interment will take place on Thursday October 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Nith Valley Mennonite Cemetery (everyone welcome). The service to celebrate Gladwin's life will follow the interment at 2:00 p.m. at Nith Valley Mennonite Church with Pastor Hendrike and Matthew Isert Bender officiating.
