Amos Rayfield, 67, of Dryden, a resident of Leavenworth and Dryden for the past 42 years, died Sunday evening, Feb. 28 In the Wenatchee Hospital. Mr. Rayfield was born on March 29, 1914 at Sevier County, Tenn., where he grew up and farmed. In 1940 he moved to Leavenworth, and on Jan. 3, 1946 he was married to Leona Whaley at Dalton, Georgia. They, returned to Leavenworth where he worked as a logger, and in 1957 they moved to Dryden where he owned and operated a fruit orchard. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church In Dryden and the lumber and sawmill workers, Local No. 2841. Mr. Rayfield is survived by three sons, Wayne Rayfield of Lake Wenatchee, Dennis Rayfield, Leavenworth, Allen Rayfield, Dryden: one daughter, Sharon Moore, Leavenworth; two brothers, O. H. Rayfield, Devlervllle, Tenn., and Floyd Rayfield, Leavenworth; six sisters, Lillard Noland, Peshastln. Margie Whaley, Alice Watson, Rosetta Dunn, all Leavenworth, Laurlnda Ogle and Lora Ogle, both Sevierville, Tenn; also five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Rayfield were conducted Wednesday afternoon, March 3, In the Ward's Funeral Chapel, with Elder Zenith Whaley officiating. Musician, Loy Willett, played and sang, "Precious Memories," and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." Pall Bearers were Wayne Rayfield, Dennis Rayfield, Allen Rayfield, Wayne Barnes, Eldrldge Ogle and Everett Noland. Concluding services and Jnterment followed In the Mt. View Cemetery. Wards Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth was In charge of the arrangements.
