Robert R. Thomas was born in Callwynfay, Wales August 2, 1856. His Parents were Robert Thomas and Catherine Morris.

As a boy he worked in the coal mines in Wales. The boys were sent in the mines to work underground because the tunnels could be smaller. Robert came to the United States with his parents and sister. They came from Wales in 1866.

Robert and Eugenia Adams were married on April 11, 1882 in Gunnison City, Colorado. They had 5 Children.

In 1929 Robert was operated on for throat cancer. After the operation Robert and Eugenia moved to Fullerton on N. Newell to be near his doctor and three daughters. He died of cancer of the larynx March 16, 1929 and is buried in Loma Vista Cemetery in Fullerton, Calif.

Doris Wooley Henson remembers her grandfather as a stern but kind man. He was rather tall, slender, with white hair and very heavy eyebrows. If he was present and a child let a door slam they were called back to open and close the door properly. He spoke fluent Welsh and often visited friends in Long Beach and conversed with them in Welsh, but he never taught his children the language.
