He was born February 28, 1892 in Yamhill County. He was a member of the Congregational Church. He had farmed near Gaston until retirement in 1949. He was a member and past noble grand of Montezuma Lodge #50 IOOF of Hillsboro and presently was the musician. He was a member of the Hillsboro Encampment #84 IOOF.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews including Mary Kurtz and Viola Blake of Hillsboro, Golda Whittke of Cornelius, Kenneth and Charles Cooper of Gaston and Betty Dillenburg of Forest Grove.
