Mrs. Ethel Cooper, a native of the Mt. Richmond district northwest of Yamhill and a lifetime resident of the state, died at her home in the Wapato district near Gaston Monday following an illness of the past several years.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper were held at Fuiten's chapel in the Grove mortuary, Forest Grove today with Edward Morrison, former pastor of the Gaston Congregation church, officiating. Concluding services and vault interment will be at the Pike cemetery near Yamhill.

Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of Mary Jane and James Harvey Allen, who settled in the Mt. Richmond district upon coming to Oregon in 1889. She was born there December 1, 1895, and lived at Mt. Richmond until her marriage to Charles Cooper at Vancouver, Wash., on October 15, 1913.

Following her marriage they lived near Cornelius for many years, later living at Kings Valley and at Roseburg each for a number of years before moving to the present Cooper farm home near Gaston 12 years ago. Her husband died in December, 1955.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ione McCord, Glide, and Mrs. Betty Strong of Forest Grove; three sons, Allen Cooper, Camas Valley, Kenneth and Charles Cooper both of Gaston; eight grandchildren.

Three sisters, Mrs. Clara Cooper, Cornelius; Mrs. Edith Patton, Cherry Grove, and Mrs. Mattie Newhouse, Eugene, and a brother, Herman Allen of Hillsboro.
