Sister Mueth was born in Smithton and raised in Belleville. She entered the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1935. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the former LeClerc College in Belleville in 1949.
Sister Mueth taught for 34 years at schools throughout Illinois, Louisiana and Missouri.
In the St. Louis Archdiocese, Sister Mueth taught at the former All Souls School in Overland from 1935 to 1936; Sacred Heart in Valley Park for the next four years; Notre Dame High School in Lemay from 1949 to 1950; St. Frances Borgia in Washington from 1951 to 1953; and St. Frances De Sales High School in St. Louis from 1954 to 1957 and from 1968 to 1972.
In the Diocese of Belleville, Sister Mueth taught at the former St. Mary School in Eldorado; the former St. Philip in East St. Louis from 1947 to 1949 and St. Joseph in East St. Louis from 1953 to 1954; and the Academy of Notre Dame of Belleville from 1960 to 1966.
Sister Mueth moved to Anna House-the Sarah Community in 1999.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Anna House-the Sarah Community on the campus of DePaul Health Center, 12349 DePaul Drive, and from 5 to 8 p.m. in the School Sisters of Notre Dame motherhouse chapel, 320 East Ripa Avenue, Lemay, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the motherhouse chapel. Burial will follow in the Notre Dame motherhouse cemetery.
Aline was the daughter of Jacob and Maggie Schmierbach Mueth. Sister of the late Edwin, Alvin and Werner Mueth, Cecilia Wainwright, Adele Jensen, Lillian Seiler, Celeste Graeber and Jerry Humphrey; dear sister-in-law of Bob Humphrey; our dear aunt, great-aunt and Sister in Religious Life.
