Dale was born on the family farm where he lived his entire life. Following graduation from Grass Lake High School with the class of 1950, he attended Michigan Agricultural College in East Lansing (M.S.U.) and then returned to the farm where he grew up. There he milked cows, raised animals and grew crops in his farming operation for more than 50 years. Helping him with the farming he loved so much were his wife whom he married on Feb 8, 1958, and their 11 children. Dale also spent more than 30 years as a 4-H leader. He was a 50-year member of the Michigan Farm Bureau. During the six years he spent on the Jackson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors (part of them as president), he helped lead the membership in the building of their office on Parnell Road in Jackson. He also was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and was affiliated with the Christ Lutheran Church in Michigan Center.
