Ruby was born December 18, 1895 in Bloomington, Idaho to Alice Hart and George Anson Osmond and had four sisters and two brothers.
She married Merrill Jex Brockbank, June 5, 1924 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they lived in Boston, Mass., Louisville, Kentucky, and Los Angeles, Calif. before making a home in Salt Lake City.
Ruby graduated from Utah State University in 1919 where she was Valedictorian of her class. She went on to teach Home Economics at Springville, South Cache High School, and Weber College.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, she served in teaching and leadership positions and in 1962 served a mission to the East Central States when she was 66 years old. She also served a stake mission and was a long time member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Ruby's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They often visited her and shared with her their life experiences, she was always interested and gave them loving and wise counsel.
She is survived by daughters, Anne Snow Macey (Waldo), Marilyn Bateman (Alph), Nan Russell (Earl) and daughter-in-law Vickie Robinson Brockbank, all of Salt Lake; 24 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren; and sister, Iona Miller, of Ogden, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill; son, Stephen; three sisters, Maude, Effie and Fern; and two brothers, Charles and James.
