As a child, Carolyn survived a severe bout of Pneumonia. She graduated from Austin High School in El Paso in 1945 then graduated from the College of Mines in El Paso, TX in 1949. Carolyn was accomplished in the performing arts and was a talented musician. She became an American Airlines flight attendant. Carolyn never married. She is buried next to her long time companion Jeanne Kaffer Folk
