William Porter Rhea was born about 1827 or 1830 in Wayne County, Tennessee, to Moses and Martha Viannah (Austin) Rhea. He married Mary Ann Byrne between 1850 and 1858, in Arkansas. William P. and Mary Anne had these children: Cornelia Ann Rhea (Tucker), Vianna Rhea (Bradley), Mary Josephine Rhea (Rogers), Texas Byrnes Rhea (Rogers), Margaret E. Rhea (Bradley), William A. Rhea, Ida Rowena Rhea (Davis), Eda Rhea (Lawson), Laura Rhea, John Hudgins Rhea, James Otis Rhea, and Tessa Bertie Rhea. William died on September 9, 1892, in McLennan County, Texas, and was buried in the Fletcher Cemetery, McLennan County, TX.
