Cherokee Sentinel, March 23, 1917, page 1:
Mrs. Mary Jenkins
was born in Cedar county, Missouri, on March 2, 1873, and died at her home in the south part of Cherokee on March 17th, 1917, aged 44 years and 10 days.

She was married to P.F. Jenkins when quite young. To this union 11 children were born, four of whom preceded their mother to that land on Eternal chore. 7 still linger upon the shore of time. All reside in Cherokee. They are Mrs. Samantha Kelso, Mrs. Artie Pottorff, Eureka; Lillian, Sadie, Edna and Earl. One sister, Mrs. Anderson, and one brother, Jeff Helt, and her husband, are left to mourn her untimely going. She was a good wife and a good mother and had a double portion of sorrow and trouble in her short life, but now having laid life's burden done, she is at rest, sweetly resting in the promises of a Savior's care and protection.

Her funeral was held at the home on Sunday conducted by Geo. W. Brown. Burial was made in the Cherokee cemetery.
