A homemaker and resident of Baton Rouge, she died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. She was 82 and a native of Newfoundland. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Deacon Bruno Rizzo. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. She was the beloved wife of Willie Achord for 66 years, mother of Joseph Achord and his wife, Carolyn, sister of Sophie Taylor, of Prince Edward Island, Canada, grandmother of Lisa Poor and her husband, Todd, Robyn Bosworth and her husband, Mike, and Wyatt Achord and his wife, Helen, and great-grandmother of Alexander, Presley, Chloe and Camille. Preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Joseph Martin. She was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church.
