Jean McClung Gage, age 82, of Georgetown, passed away October 10, 2009 in a local care facility. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October14, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Wooldridge and Rev. Jack Phelps officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown. Serving as pallbearers will be: Nolan Woods, Tony Gage, David Joe Gage, Joe Green, Robert Borden, and John Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gage Richardson, Joe Foster, John Foster, Chris Jones, and Texas Jones.

Jeanie was born on May 3, 1927 in Rio Hondo, TX to Bernard P. and Claudia Ray (Harper) McClung. She grew up in the Rio Grande valley, graduating from Retrop High School in Retrop, OK. She married Gene Gage on Dec. 31, 1945. Jeanie was the Society Editor of the Valley Morning Star in Harlingen, TX. Gene and Jean moved to Georgetown 27 years ago to enjoy their retirement. They were members of Crestview Baptist Church, where Gene served as a Deacon and Jeanie started the Deaf Ministry, which continues through today with several qualified interpreters.

Jeanie is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Gage; her father, B.P. McClung; mother, Claudia Williams; brother, James McClung; sister, Lady Coy. She is survived by son, David Gage; daughter, Patsy Simmons; grandchildren, David Joe Gage, Tony Gage, Stephanie Richardson, Chris Jones, Joe Foster, and John Foster; great-grandchildren, Tex, Abby, Gage, Madelyn, Jeannie, Ruby, Serais, and April; and a very special friend, JoAnn Perez.

The family will receive friends at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
