In 1917-18 he was a Sergeant stationed in the Signal Corps (early Air Force) stationed at Carlstrom Field, Arcadia, FL where he was an aerial photographer.
After the war he was a school and portrait photographer, (as were his father and two brothers). in Kansas City and thereabouts. After a serious heart episode in 1950 he retired and became a devoted ham radio operator, W0WMQ
