John Clark Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rothmer Scott, was born August 20, 1926 at Lamoni, Iowa. He entered school at Macksburg, Iowa and at nine years of age he moved with his parents to Lamoni where he continued in his school work. He was a member of the Boy Scouts while there, and was active in school athletics. He was baptized at the age of nine in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church.

John moved with his parents to New London in September of 1941 where he entered high school as a sophomore. He continued to be interested in basketball and football and was a member of the Glee Club. He was active in the Presbyterian Sunday School and had made many friends both within the school and community.

His death occured at the Burlington Hospital Sunday evening at 7:30 following an accident at New London. John had reached the age of 16 years, 2 months, and 5 days.

John leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rothmer Scott; one older brother, Edward, who is in Naval service in the Pacific war zone; one sister, Mara Lea Hetherington and husband Scott, who is serving in the Navy, of Beloit, Wisconsin; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scott of Lamoni, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a younger brother, Paul, in 1939 from polio.

Services were held at the Presbyterian church at 9:30 Tuesday morning. The funeral cortege left Tuesday afternoon for Lamoni where servies were held yesterday afternoon at the RLDS church and burial there.
