Martha Ellen Jensen, 82, Hays, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center, Ellis, Ks. She was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Ellis County to Andrew and Esther (Joy) Jensen. She graduated from Hays High School.She was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years before retiring.
She served as president of the local union for telephone operators. She was a member of the St. Andrew Episcopal Church, rural Ellis County, and was a league bowler for many years.

Survivors include a sister, Rossie Joan Morgan, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10 nieces and eight nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Carl Jensen, Ivan Jensen, Harold Jensen, George Jensen, Myron Jensen, Nathan Jensen; and Neal Jensen; two sisters, Donna Goodrick and Linda Prockish; and four nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine; inurnment in St. Andrew's Cemetery at a later date.
